Having accidentally shot Mulder, Scully tries in vain to resuscitate him. To her surprise, the alien Acolytes heal her comrade, before leading them both to the Upper Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park. Separated after a geyser erupts, Mulder finds himself facing two Scullys: the real one tied to a tree, her doppelganger an alien shape-shifter. Mulder is easily overpowered, but Scully manages to free herself and kill their attacker. Cradling the unconscious Mulder in her arms, Scully finds herself surrounded by the Acolytes – just as a huge spaceship erupts from the ground before her…
