Buffy

Sunnydale High’s ‘Career Fair’ depresses Buffy, as what future does she have? Elsewhere, Spike is wrestling with the difficult task of translating the book that he stole from Giles, and is planning to kill the Slayer. That night, Buffy is out on patrol when she comes across a pair of vampires stealing something from a mausoleum. She kills one of the creatures, but the other is able to escape. The next day, Giles is disturbed by Buffy's report of the unusual behaviour of the vampires. Meanwhile Spike decides to "bring in the big guns" to get rid of Buffy: demonic bounty hunters known as the Order of Taraka. A follow-up trip to the mausoleum confirms Giles' fears: the vampires robbed the tomb of Josephus du Lac, a theologian and mathematician whose book, the one stolen, contained evil spells. Later, Buffy's ice-skating is interrupted by a brutish man, who attempts to kill her; luckily Angel appears, and together they dispatch the assassin, and then share a romantic moment - unaware that they are being watched by a mysterious girl. Soon after, Giles explains to Buffy that the Order of Taraka is unstoppable, and that she should probably find somewhere to hide. Distressed, Buffy goes to Angel's home, but he is not there; elsewhere, Angel is trying to pump Willy the bartender for information on the Order, when the unknown girl attacks him. She overpowers the vampire and locks him in a steel cage which, in just six hours, will be exposed to direct sunlight, which will kill him. As the girl leaves in search of Buffy, Giles has figured out that the book the vampires stole contains a spell to restore an ailing vampire to health - a vampire like Drusilla. Attempting to find Buffy, Xander and Cordelia visit her house, but instead find another assassin disguised as a salesman; enticed by his offer of free cosmetics, Cordelia lets him in. Back at Angel’s home, Buffy is rudely awoken by the girl, who attacks her with a hatchet. After an evenly-matched fight they halt and face each other in a stand-off; Buffy asks the girl who she is - "I am Kendra," the newcomer announces, "the Vampire Slayer..."
